Mountain Biking – Anniston- Iron Legs Loop

Approximately 5.5 miles of very technical trail that encircles an old training area on the Ft. McClellan Military Reservation. Iron Legs features steep climbing and descending interspersed with many technical sections, side trails and a few scenic views.

Skill Level:
Fit intermediate and advanced riders The trail offers many challenges and many opportunities to test the limits of one's ability. This is a difficult trail. Beginner mountain bikers are advised to take a pass on this trail, or to at least enter it with the expectation to walk the more difficult sections. (For intermediate-level trail riding, see the details for the nearby Linda's Loop on Bain's Gap Road, and Gene's Loop and Mark's Loop trailheads on Joseph Springs Motorway.)

Variations:
There are many variations within the trail area and nearby on Joseph Springs Motorway. 
Features:
Parking: Parking is on Bain's Gap Road on the right (north) side of the road. There are two parking areas less than a quarter-mile apart.

Available Facilities: None. No bathrooms, water, lights, just a trail entrance and a place to park.

There is an Exxon station and convenience store just south of the intersection of Choccolocco Road (CR 55) and Highway 9.

 
Notes:
The Iron Legs and Linda's Loop trails can be done in conjunction with Gene's Loop and Mark's Loop over on Joseph Springs Motorway. To get to the trailhead for Gene's and Mark's loops, turn right (south) onto Choccolocco Road. Turn left onto Joseph Springs Motorway in about 800 feet. The parking area for Mark's Loop is on the left in about 1.5 miles, just before the intersection of Highway 9.
