For those who seek all the grandeur of Little River Canyon without the full-on adrenaline rush of the upper sections, the Chairlift section is ideal. The Chairlift section begins at Eberhardt's Point, the site of the old chairlift that carried tourists to the bottom of the canyon many years ago. This section begins with a commitment to exertion. You must carry or drag your boat down hundreds of feet to river level. Fortunately the trail has been improved over the last decade. Once at water level, you will find clear water in a spectacular canyon setting, with tributaries cascading into the main river. The first 1.5 miles harbor the most difficult rapids, including Circle Back, Eddy Hop, Blue Hole Memorial, and the signature rapid, Bottleneck. Those seeking a II+ run can put-in at Powell Trail on the lower canyon rim road (CR275).
