15-acre historic site. Greek Revival antebellum mansion, boyhood home of Rear Admiral Richmond Pearson Hobson (1870–1937), hero of Spanish-American War. Original furnishings and outbuildings. Christmas Open House held in December.

A historic site of the Alabama Historical Commission, the Greek Revival style house was built around 1840 by Isaac Croom.  It is also the boyhood home of Spanish-American War hero and progressive statesman Richmond Pearson Hobson.

The mission of the Alabama Historical Commission is to protect, preserve, and interpret Alabama’s historic places.  It is the state’s historic preservation agency and serves as the State Historic Preservation Office.
