Home of 1st licensed Black mortician in west Alabama. African-American contractors built the two-story bungalow in 1920 with brick and hand-hewn sill salvaged from the old State Capitol building in Tuscaloosa. See period furniture, irons and kettles, combs and curlers used by African-Americans. Exhibit rooms featuring Murphy family memorabilia, displays on local history, African art and artifacts.
