• Pumpkin Patch Express

  Oct 1-31, Silverhill Pumpkin Patch Express 251-978-3050. www.waleswest.com. Admission charged. Wales West RV Resort & Light Railway--This trip is total fun in the fall for kids of all ages! Our totally decorated steam powered day train (Pumpkin Patch Express) leaves the station for a 1 mile fun ride to the Pumpkin Patch at the Haunted Barn and return. The steam powered night train (Ghoul Ville Express) travels through a totally decorated landscape where everything is illuminated and monsters come out to greet the train as it passes . Both trains stop at the haunted barn where the children will find the haunted maze. Beyond the maze is the pumpkin patch filled with pumpkins for them to choose from. Once the children have selected their pumpkins it's off to the craft tables to decorate them before re-boarding the train. Once back at the main station everyone receives snacks and a Halloween sucker. Sat. & Sun., 1-9 p.m.; last two weeks, Thurs.-Sun., 5-9 p.m.

• Arctic Express Christmas Train

Wales West RV Resort & Light Railways--Christmas at the Wales West Light Railway is a special family time. The entire railway and surrounding park grounds are totally decorated with more than 1,000,000 lights, figures, blow-ups and miles of ribbon and garlands. The steam powered totally decorated train (Arctic Express) leaves the main station for a mile-long trip through a wonderland of lights to the North Pole and return. Once at the North Pole the children will be able to visit with Santa in the winter wonderland barn while parents and grand parents take pictures. Each child receives a handmade wooden locomotive made at the railway as part of their visit. They can decorate it at the arts and crafts table before re-boarding the train. Upon returning to the main station everyone is treated to hot coco, cookies,and candy canes in the hospitality tent. The children can play with the large Thomas The Tank train tables while the adults relax or shop in the unique gift shop or tea room. Weekends from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for groups and walk-ins. General public hours: Sat. & Sun., 1-9 p.m. During the last two weeks, the event is open daily from 4-9 p.m.
