A charming town steeped in history and nature, Decatur boasts one of Alabama’s most intact Victorian-era neighborhoods, part of the self-guided Civil War Walking Tour. Other attractions include championship golf, a water park at Mallard Park, and the 100,000 acres of water, wilderness and wildlife of Wheeler Lake and Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge.

    Primarily Civil War military equipment, including guns, swords, rifles, bayonets, uniforms, etc. Also pre- and post-Civil War items. Cannons, Civil War drums, canon shells and diagrams depicting various Civil War battle scenes are also displayed. Collection also includes several documents signed by well known Civil War participants and leaders.

    More than 60 balloons are featured at this free event, one of the largest hot-air balloon festivals in the Southeast. There will be races, a nighttime balloon glow, a key grab and tether rides. Enjoy arts and crafts, an antique car and tractor show, food vendors, children's activities and fireworks.
