Guntersville

Situated on Guntersville Lake, Alabama's largest with 950 miles of shoreline, this small Southern town is a recreation bonanza. The city is renowned to anglers for its bass fishing and hosts various fishing tournaments year-round. Water sports include skiing, boating and sailing. Eagle-watching has become a sport here for part of the year - the area hosts a large concentration of wintering bald eagles. Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center contains exhibits of Native American tools, pottery and ceremonial pieces.

    Join our Park Naturalist at 9:00 a.m. on the Cutchenmine Trail. This trail follows an old coal mine road along Short Creek. In the winter this is a good place to spot herons, wood ducks, and some times eagles. Meet at the old park office on Hwy 227.
