Dothan

There is never a shortage of things to do and see in the “Peanut Capital of the World.” Walk the historic streets of Dothan and be inspired by the giant murals depicting the city’s earliest days and infamous moments. While you’re there, stop in at one of the many dinner theaters, or pay a visit to The Wiregrass Museum of Art, which features a special hands-on gallery. Outdoors, Dothan offers world-class golfing at Highland Oaks, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, with three demanding nine-hole championship courses; birding at Landmark Park, which boasts 125-plus species in its wooded surroundings; and even a theme park with some of the world’s tallest water slides.

  • Cherry Street AME Church

    Declared “Mother Church” of AME denomination in Alabama. State’s oldest AME church. Originally organized as Colored Methodist Church in 1877.
