Eufaula
Settled high upon a bluff overlooking the beautiful 45,000-acre Lake Eufaula along the southeastern Alabama-Georgia border, Eufaula is rich in both recreational opportunities and history. Known as the "Big Bass Capital of the World," Lake Eufaula features some 640 miles of shoreline and many public boat ramps and marinas. More than 280 bird species have been verified at Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge. Eufaula also features the Seth Lore and Irwinton Historic District. With more than 700 historic and architecturally significant structures, the District includes Alabama's most coherent collection of intact mid- to late-19th century small-town commercial buildings, as well as the state's most extensive collection of domestic Italianate architecture. Historic Shorter Cemetery, Shorter Mansion, and Old Creek Town Park provide more glimpses into the history of this beautiful city. Nearby Clayton was home to Alabama's longtime Governor George Corley Wallace. Visit www.eufaulachamber.com for more information.Attractions
