America's First Mardi Gras: A Snapshot of Pageantry in Mobile

Experience the history, pageantry and excitement of Mardi Gras (“Fat Tuesday”) in the porty city of Mobile where it all began.  Learn about Mardi Gras customs and take a guided field trip through the new Mardi Gras Museum showcasing gowns, trains and crowns of Mardi Gras Kings and Queens. See the 2008 King, Queen and their royal court arrive during Monday’s beautiful Floral Parade. Then, celebrate Mardi Gras Day from a privileged vantage point in an historic hotel on the parade route (with dining in the ballroom). This full day of festivities features colorful parades morning, afternoon and evening. Enjoy marching bands and jazz bands, mounted parade units and floats created by “krewes” such as the Order of Athena, Knights of Revelry, Comic Cowboys and Order of Myths.
