Marengo County Historical Society Historic Demopolis Pilgrimage 2009

The Historic Demopolis Spring Pilgrimage 2009, March 14 and 15, 2009, a biennial event of the Marengo County Historical Society, will feature landmarks to complement the Southern Literary Trail. Come tour over a dozen 19th and early 20th century homes of Demopolis, featuring Bluff Hall, c. 1832, Gaineswood, c.1843, and the recently renovated Town Hall, c. 1843, as well as private residences. In conjunction with the Southern Literary Trail, the pilgrimage will feature Lyon Hall, c.1850, the inspiration for Lillian Hellman’s Lionnet in her award winning play, The Little Foxes. The two day pilgrimage will be Saturday, March 14, from 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, March 15, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Tickets are $20.00 per person, children under 12 $10.00, and will be available each day of the event at historic Bluff Hall in Demopolis, 407 North Commissioners Avenue.
