Swayback Bridge Trail

by 53 people

Poor Fair Good Excellent Extraordinary
In 1993 an organization was formed called TOLA – the Trail of Legends Association. Their mission was simple enough: to create a trail system in Elmore County that would include bike paths, multi-use trails, and primitive footpaths.

In 1998 their first project was completed, and it was impressive: the Swayback Bridge Trail, an 8-mile looping trail along the banks of the Coosa River.

The path roller-coasters up and down the hills as it winds its way just north of Jordan Dam. Along the route you'll venture through hardwood bottoms, thick stands of pines, and catch glimpses of the Coosa River to the west.

The path is multi-use and is also shared with mountain bikers, so keep your eye out for them as you hike.
