There’s nothing better than a home cooked meal, especially in the south, and these Alabama restaurants are serving them up daily. Check out these five restaurants for a taste of homestyle Southern cuisine just like your grandma used to make: 

G’s Country Kitchen; Huntsville

G’s Country Kitchen serves up delectable soul food and comfort food in a down-home atmosphere. Each day, guests can enjoy a variety of made-from-scratch offerings that are prepared fresh daily. The restaurant offers classic Southern favorites including fried chicken, fried catfish, pork chops, pot roast and cheeseburgers. Yo' Mama’s brunch and lunch menu items have made this restaurant a downtown dining staple in Birmingham, Alabama. The establishment is home to many mouth-watering creations including its shrimp and grits, crispy fried catfish, chicken and waffles, and hot wings. You can even add one of the restaurant’s homemade sauces to your dish for a flavorful match made in heaven. Each of their offerings are made-from-scratch daily and truly allow you to enjoy the taste of good home cooking in a cozy and inviting atmosphere. 

Pannie-George’s Kitchen; Auburn

Pannie-George’s Kitchen offers Southern style meat and vegetable cuisine that guests just cannot get enough of. Martin’s Restaurant; Montgomery

Martin’s Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in Montgomery, and for good reason. This restaurant has been serving up delectable homestyle cooking since the 1930s. The Downtowner; Selma

The Downtowner is a classic “meat n’ three” in Selma serving up Southern meats and veggies in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant serves everything from turkey and dressing to barbecue chicken with a large variety of sides to choose from.
