Waterfront Dining on the Gulf

June 2020

When the view is as important as the dish, you don’t want to miss these four spots for your next waterfront dining experience on Alabama’s beautiful coast.

Cobalt

Known for its happy hour, Cobalt offers reasonable dining with views of the water from every single table in the restaurant regardless of whether you’re sitting in the outdoor or indoor dining room. From 3 – 5 PM each day, specials on draft beer and wine are offered with appetizers like their Cobalt Caviar, which is a blend of black beans, edamame, corn, red onion, Roma tomatoes, and cilantro tossed in a light vinaigrette and served with corn tortilla chips. For those who love a kick, try the Firecracker Shrimp – lightly dusted, fried and tossed in spicy remoulade sauce. Come for the views, stay for the spice!

Perch

Located on the second floor of the beautiful Hilton property in Gulf State Park, the views you’ll find “perched” at your table are breathtaking. If you’ve enjoyed a sunset bike ride in the state park, cruise on over to the Lodge at Gulf State Park to find this gem. Ponzu Glazed Gulf Wahoo, House-Smoked Pork Belly and Seared Diver Scallops are just a few of the items you can enjoy for dinner. If you’re stopping by late at night, be sure to try the Country Deviled Eggs with Pimiento Cheese, Chicharron and Cornichon Pickles, and the Chocolate Pot De Crème to cure your sweet tooth. As the sun sets, you’ll see local fishermen and tourists from abroad heading out for night fishing on the pier. Between the menu and the sunset, you might be planning a return trip before you even check-out.

The Hangout

If you’ve got a crowd you need to feed after a full day on the beach, flip flops and hungry families are welcome here. Courtyard games, sand pit and daiquiri bar are fun for the whole crew. The staff invites you to “eat like you’re on vacation” while you’re visiting, and with a menu like this, you will do just that. Seafood boils, Smoked Tuna Dip, and the Chef's Daily Special are just a few of the incredible options, and smaller portions of big favorites for the little ones will be a crowd favorite. Walk right out onto the sand to get a little more fun in before your meal is served, and you won’t know where the beach ends and The Hangout begins.
