Full Moon Bar-B-Que
The moon never sets on this hickory-smoked barbecue eatery with outposts around the state. Former Alabama football coach Pat James opened the first location on Birmingham’s Southside in the mid-1980s. David Maluf, one of the current owners, said, “The one distinctive thing about every Full Moon is the way we cook the food. All our meats are cooked fresh on an open wood-burning pit every day. When you see a Full Moon, you expect to see smoke.” But that’s not all. The Half-Moon cookies and carrot cakes are made fresh daily.
