NoJa occupies a North Jackson Street landmark that at different times has been a private home, a cab company and one of downtown Mobile's most legendary bars, the Little Turf Club. Today the spot is a sophisticated restaurant complete with ironwork and a romantic courtyard. At NoJa, chef and owner Chakli Diggs blends Mediterranean, Asian and Gulf Coast cuisine using free-range meats and other organic and sustainable ingredients.

One of the 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama

Ginger Doughnut

NoJa has given the humble doughnut gourmet status with its popular ginger doughnut. The fluffy homemade treat served with caramel sauce and the restaurant’s daily ice cream bears little resemblance to what you’d find in your neighborhood shop. The dessert’s melt-in-your-mouth goodness is enough to make you swear off Krispy Kreme for life.
