UAB's Alys Stephens Center
A true cultural center for our city and state, UAB’s Alys Stephens Center is committed to presenting the best in all genres of the performing arts while curating innovative arts experiences and nurturing creativity. More than just a stage for presenting programs, the Alys Stephens Center is a community arts classroom, laboratory, and public forum for the state. The ASC houses four superb performance venues to experience these innovative arts experiences, including the 1,330-seat Jemison Concert Hall; 350-seat proscenium-style Sirote Theatre;170-seat Reynolds-Kirschbaum Recital Hall; and the Black-box Odess Theatre. Additionally, the ASC is proud to be the home of UAB departments of Theatre and Music and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
The ASC also is developing the next generation of culture lovers through ArtPlay, it’s home to arts education and outreach which endeavors to educate, inspire, and nurture creative growth and self-expression in people of all ages by providing innovative arts education. To date, free or low-cost arts education programs have been provided to more than 70,000 children and adults through workshops, classes, residences, master classes, school shows, and more.
