Monroeville Walking Tour
In this Walking Tour, we will explore a history of homes and commercial properties located in Monroeville’s Downtown Historic District (recognized by the National Park Service in September, 2009). A self-guided walking tour booklet is available for download on the website. Getting Here and Getting Around This walking tour encompasses dozens of structures/sites in the Downtown Commercial District of Monroeville, Alabama's "Literary Capital" and one of the great small towns of the rural south. The walking tour itself will take you 60 - 90 minutes. Along the way, you are likely to meet such diverse characters as the town's librarian, ladies of the Monroeville Garden Club, who tend to several plantings in the historic downtown, business owners, museum guides and even local authors. Monroeville is centrally located 25 miles off interstate highway 65, and on the historic El Camino Corridor, U. S. Highway 84. If you decide you would like a guided tour, please contact the Chamber of Commerce in advance. 251-743-2880
