We present the culture of the Poarch Creek Indians on Saturday, March 1. They provide historical narrative of their tribe and how they survived the Trail of Tears. The Poarch Creek Pow Wow Club performs original tribal dance in ceremonial regalia at 11am and 4pm on March 1. The Ballyhoo Festival features a different cultural experience for visitors on March 2 by presenting Early Americana Appalachian music in the form of a fiddle/banjo competition, sponsored in part by the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival and FloraBama with cash awards of $4000.00. The Park offers a large playground for children and the Ballyhoo Festival offers lots of fun art projects for creative little minds. There are demonstrations of basket weaving, wood carving and on site painting. Popular Coastal Alabama and regional bands provide additional entertainment. The Coastal Alabama Chamber of Commerce provides adult beverages of beer and wine and the food selection is culturally diverse and delicious.. The Ballyhoo Festival is one of fastest growing and most popular events along the coast. A must visit festival!
